Many years ago, we got a puppy just before Christmas (not deliberately for Christmas, he happened to be born in October) so decided to keep things low-key. We didn't have a tree but nailed fir branches to the beams and decorated them. Wise move, I think.
Only thing was, I forgot about it and a few years later thought we'd got damn big woodworm when I noticed the holes.
