So Here's An Idea
I've said before that I need to post when the idea hits me or at least reasonably soon afterwards before I forget.
I used to keep a little notebook in my pocket to write ideas down in when they came to me, but back then I was a little prolific with my writing anyway. It struck me yesterday however when I was looking at the Lapwing on the playing field that I really ought to make a note of it, and having only my mobile phone with me sent a twitter. I know that sending a twitter will also (eventually) create a post here, but in twitter's 140 characters that isn't really much to say what I really thought, so hence my idea.
If I twitter something when the idea strikes, I could always come back at a later date, when I have more time and use that to prompt me into writing a post?
Well the whole lapwing sighting was (for me) quite exciting, mostly because I've never seen one on that field before. They're normally reserved for fields or shoreline and not sports pitches in the middle of suburbia. Evidently not. Which reminds me that I've been quite fortunate in the birds that I've seen within yards of my home just recently. Add to the lapwing, buzzard, and grey wagtail (in our back garden) in just the last week, and that's on top of all the extra activity in the garden because it's been so cold it's been quite a week.

An Update of Sorts
Well I've not posted properly since the middle of September. Some days I've missed it terribly, others not at all. Put simply the reason for this latest hiatus (and probably most others), is lack of time.
At the moment time is taken up with work, looking after my gf, and doing many of the other things that I would like to sit and write posts about. I'm still down on the allotment, I'm still watching the comings and goings in the garden (today for example it's absolutely teeming in birds (probably because it was so cold last night - the garden sensor on the weather machine got down to -5.8 centigrade)). I still watch telly, read books, and watch films (although we haven't been to the cinema in months). What I don't seem to have the time to do is sit and write about them. For me, I have to post when the inspiration strikes, and this normally means when I don't have the time.
So whilst others are writing their reviews of 2008, and their resolutions for 2009, I'm giving you an explanation of what's not been going on here. Will it get better? Probably not in the short term at least. I've just had nearly two weeks work free and this is the first time I've managed to sit down and post that whole time, the day before I go back to work. I won't make promises, but I can't bring myself to close down the blog altogether either.
In the meantime I wish you all a very belated Happy Christmas, and hope that 2009 treats you well.
